                                             Message from the Worshipful Master

Good Day, Brothers,

As we welcome two new Master Masons into our ranks, we also enter the season when our Lodge goes dark for the summer.

In farming communities where many Masons are farmers, Lodges traditionally go dark to allow brethren to tend to their crops. Similarly, in fishing communities, Lodges go dark while members are away at sea, and in military Lodges, during times of deployment. This pause is a long-standing tradition rooted in the practical needs of our members.

Historically, darkness has symbolized ignorance, while light represents knowledge and understanding. Therefore, even though our Lodge may go dark, I encourage you to seek light this summer.

Use this time to learn something new:

·         Study a lecture you haven’t yet memorized.

·         Practice a piece of ritual work you’ve been meaning to learn.

·         Borrow a book from our Lodge library.

·         Explore a Masonic podcast.

I would love to see Pitman Lodge earn three bars at next year’s GLI — and I believe we can do it together.

If you need any guidance or support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

  Fraternally,

Michael Paris Jr.,

Worshipful Master

Attest: Michael Paris, Secretary
